Lake St Clair

Lake St. Clair is nestled between the Canadian province of Ontario and Michigan - the side where we fish. It owes its origin to the St. Clair River, which flows southward from Lake Huron, and its waters eventually flow out through the southwestern end into the Detroit River, which then connects to Lake Erie.

The lake boasts impressive dimensions, stretching for 26 miles in length and spanning 24 miles in width, covering 430 square miles. Although Lake St. Clair's average depth is a modest 11 feet, it does feature a deeper navigation channel, dredged to accommodate freighter traffic. Situated approximately 6 miles to the northeast of Detroit, Lake St Clair offers world-class walleye and musky fishing in the heart of one of America's biggest cities.

Musky Fishing

It is popular opinion that Lake St. Clair is the musky capital of the United States and arguably the world. With approximately 110+ species of fish (many forage fish to musky), combined with Lake St. Clair’s shallow basin, clear water, vast area of weed beds, and connecting water ways - the lake makes for a Musky’s dream habitat.

There is an estimated population of 150,000-175,000 musky in Lake St. Clair and connecting water ways which puts about one fish to one acre of fishable area on the body of water. Learn more about how we fish for them throughout the seasons.

Walleye Fishing

Walleye are the biggest member of the perch family, with a olive/gold colored body and glowing marble eyes that enable it to be a fierce night time predator is one of the most sought after species in North America.

The walleye fishery on Lake St. Clair and connecting waterways is world class. Come ice-out (around March), walleye migrate from the western basin of Lake Erie heading into the Detroit River system to spawn. Nearly simultaneously this process also occurs in the St. Clair River system with walleye coming into spawn from Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair. This is action-packed fun for the whole family.
